At last count, there are only six sculptures of historical women in New York City, the most recent in Central Park—Pioneering Women (2020), featuring Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, and Cady Elizabeth Stanton. Four more are planned for installation across the city over the next few years, including a sculpture of Shirley Chisholm in Prospect Park. Join this virtual program to explore these monuments, learn about their artists, and discover the stories behind how they came to be.
