Finding Meaning, Purpose & Joy Every Day: Making Time for What Matters Most

This online program will combine a lively presentation, group discussion, and moments of individual reflection based upon the best-selling book Meditations for Mortals: Four Weeks to Embrace Your Limitations and Make Time for What Counts, by philosopher Oliver Burkeman.

We all know that we have a limited time on this earth. From dawn to dusk, each day invites opportunities for personal growth, purpose and joy—but we often get bogged down with mundane tasks, routine obligations, health challenges, and other obstacles that keep us from doing what matters most in life. Instead of tackling a never-ending “to-do list,” let’s ask ourselves: how do we really want to spend our time? How can we bring greater meaning, energy, and connection into  every day? Professional educator Lori Rotskoff will highlight the wisdom and strategies in Oliver Burkeman’s book, with a chance for participants to share reflections and engage with one another during the discussion.

You do NOT need to purchase or read the book in advance in order to attend and benefit from this session!!

Led by Lori Roskof, a Cultural historian, author and educator. Lori studied history and literature at Northwestern before earning her PhD in American Studies at Yale. Lori has taught at Yale and Sarah Lawrence College and currently focuses on lifetime learning for adults. Her busy schedule includes offerings at the 92nd Street Y and the Scarsdale Adult School among others.
