In this workshop, you’ll learn practical tools and daily habits that strengthen memory, sharpen attention, and support brain health. This session is ideal for adults who want to stay mentally sharp after retirement, better understand how memory works, recognize normal versus abnormal cognitive changes, and discover practical, everyday strategies to keep their brains active.

Typical cognitive aging vs. cognitive impairment
Lifestyle factors that impact brain health (sleep, exercise, social engagement, hearing health, etc.)
Attention and focus techniques
Everyday memory strategies
Led by Melissa Katz, M.S., CCC-SLP - a speech-language pathologist with over a decade of experience supporting adults with neurological and cognitive-communication disorders. She earned her master’s degree from Ithaca College and spent much of her career as a Senior Speech-Language Pathologist at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, working with patients recovering from stroke and brain injury. At Magee, she co-initiated the music therapy department and chaired the Cancer Care Committee. Currently, Melissa provides teletherapy to adults in CT and WA and leads a monthly in-person Support/Conversation Group at Fairfield Woods Branch Library. She is also a certified SPEAK OUT! Provider, specializing in therapy for people with Parkinson’s and related neurological conditions.
